Okay, I'll admit that I'm a kid at heart. It takes the naivete of a kid sometimes to suspend one's interpretation of reality for awhile and simply enjoy something that may not necessarily be believable, or logical, or just plain realistic. Given that, you can be more open to entertainment that isn't like what we have come to expect in today's world.

One such type of entertainment are "The Shadow" pulp stories of many years gone by. I recently came across two great websites, there are more, which focus on the pulp writings of "The Shadow" series. The Shadow Magazine provides digitally scanned online copies of the original stories. The text files can be downloaded and read in their original written form.

There are also websites which provide PDF format copies of the original Shadow stories that can be read using Adobe Acrobat or Glassbook Reader. One such site is the ShadowPDF Files Home page. These PDF versions include some of the original illustrations where available.

Try these websites out for a little taste of yesteryear.

I ran across a very informative website all about Mystery fiction and it's history and genres. Check out A Guide to Classic Mystery and Detection for some detailed info on Mystery fiction.

The Absinthe Literary Review is focused on short stories and poetry. Not really Mystery related, in terms of this writer's webzine, but an interesting read nonetheless.
